China Agri Rice Processing and Trading Division Establishes Strategic Cooperation on Poverty Alleviation with Shanghai

On January 11, 2012, China Agri Rice Processing and Trading Division signed a strategic cooperation agreement on poverty alleviation during China’s 12th Five-Year Plan with the Community Center of Shanghai Expo Garden of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong New District of Shanghai. The Divison will become the major supplier of grain and oil products for various poverty alleviation sites in Pudong. Needy families in Pudong will be provided high quality grain and oil products from China Agri at an affordable price over the next five years. 
During the period of cooperation, China Agri’s Rice Processing and Trading Division will provide quality products at a low price to needy people in Pudong. All eligible citizens will be able to buy grain and oil products with coupons issued by the Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong. This agreement is an example of the implementation of Premier Wen Jiabao’s important directive for COFCO to guarantee a supply of grain and oil.
The two parties hosted a charity event in Pudong during the cold winter days of New Year’s Day and Spring Festival at the same time as the agreement was signed. RMB300,000 worth of products, including Fortune Rice, edible oil, sugar and other grain and oil products, were donated by China Agri’s Rice Processing and Trading Division to needy families.
He Wei, Assistant General Manager of Rice Processing and Trading Division, and Lu Ming, Vice-Governor of Pudong New District of Shanghai, attended the signing ceremony and charity event, along with other related leaders from various municipal and district-level Civil Affairs Bureaus.
